About the Houston SharePoint User Group

 

Microsoft SharePoint Services has taken the business world by storm. It is quickly becoming the standard for most corporations and small businesses as it provides a collaboration tool that helps improve efficiency and productivity

The Houston SharePoint User Group (H-SPUG) is focused on staying ahead of the SharePoint curve by providing a forum for Houston’s community of SharePoint professionals and partners to collaborate, share best practices and network. H-SPUG serves SharePoint users with varying levels of expertise. End users, developers, designers, users, power users, administrators, managers and others interested in learning more about Microsoft SharePoint can all benefit from our expert speakers and members sharing business experiences. H-SPUG holds monthly meetings that include presentations from SharePoint power users and professionals associated with related technologies.

Since formation in 2007, H-SPUG provides a casual place for SharePointers in the Houston area. We are looking for members who are interested in taking the Houston SharePoint User Group to the next level in the annual period.

Officer Positions

The H-SPUG Board has ratified the by-laws in June 2011. The procedure for determining new H-SPUG Officers will be elected by the board members. Nominations for officer positions will be submitted to the board for review and election. Any member can nominate someone for an officer position.

If you or know someone that is interested in an officer position, please email board@h-spug.com with your nominees' name and a paragraph stating your reasons for nominating that person as an officer. Please include a short bio for the nominee.

Criteria for candidacy include: 

1. You must be an enterprise member. If you work for an ISV, a reseller, IT consulting services, career placement companies, etc., you do not qualify. If you work for an energy company, hospitals, government institutions, academias, etc., you qualify. Exceptions to this rule will be made by the board members.

2. Your interest in running the organization is to benefit the members of H-SPUG.

3. You must have attended several recent H-SPUG events on a regular basis.

 

As an officer of H-SPUG, you must: 

1. Look out for the interest of the members of H-SPUG.

2. Never distribute the email list.

 

Officer Roles:

President - schedule officer meetings, manage H-SPUG operations, report to the board on quarterly activities, schedule monthly meetings. Each President will remain one month after their term to assist with the transition for the incoming President.

Vice President - assist the President, manage monthly and event giveaways, assist at monthly meetings

Secretary - assist the President, manage the membership, organize the monthly meeting registration
